Following the Prime Ministers announcement of the time planned to end restrictions, Toyhouse needs to study the guidance and will re-open face to face sessions as soon as possible. If you attended a session during Oct, Nov Dec last year, we have you contact details and will be in touch as soon as sessions can open, if not keep checking the website or email, phone us with your number.
January 2021: Sadly due to the current high levels of Covid we are unable to offer face to face sessions, but will continue with our projects offering one to one support to those families needing this. ACTIVE PHYSICAL PLAY FLYER We are re-starting Toyhouse Active Physical Play sessions at St Hilda’s Community Centre on Monday 2nd November. These are for parents and their pre-school children and due to the Social Distancing and safety guidance places will need to be booked and numbers will be limited. We have now re-opened the Toyhouse Centre for users and are gradually increasing the sessions running there. Sadly numbers to all sessions are now greatly reduced to ensure social distancing is observed, so booking is required and adults will need to wear mask. New sessions:
- Baby Group Walk n Talk: Meeting at Toyhouse every Monday morning, (weather dependant and in term time)
- Mellow Parenting Course: Contact Pip or Julie for more information
- Stay & Play for pre-schoolers: Tuesday 1.30-2.30 & Wednesday 9.30-10.30
- Baby Massage: New courses starting each month
For older children after school: We are re-starting our popular Creative Cook Club, thanks to funding from BBC Children in Need. every Monday and on Thursday we will have Games Club
Toyhouse has been making good use of the time we have been unable to run sessions in the Centre . The Toy Library is having a complete overhaul and we are working to get the building safe & ready to re-start indoor sessions as soon as it is safe to do so. We have been awarded a small Booster Grant from BBC Children in Need and are now running Family Fun sessions in 2 local parks/open spaces. These sessions will be aimed at children aged 3-10yrs to enjoy together with their parents/carers. We are starting a new PARENTING COURSE called WORKING IT OUT TOGETHER. This 6 session course is aimed at parents and their pre-school children and will run between 10 – 12 on a Thursday morning, starting on February 27th and ending 2nd April. Toyhouse Open Event on 15th October was a great success with 50 professionals and friends coming along to celebrate Toyhouse 40th Anniversary . This term we are continuing to work in partnership with the local Medical Centre at St Paul’s Way and will be holding the 6 session DIY Health course here at Toyhouse on a Wednesday morning. Suitable for parents with children under 5 who want to learn more about their children’s health
THE 14TH INTERNATIONAL TOY LIBRARY CONFERENCE
At the International Toy Library Conference in the Netherlands. Pip & Julie represented Toyhouse and the UK by making a presentation entitled ‘Firmer Foundations’ showcasing our range of services for families pre-birth to 2 years supporting attachment via play & engagement.
A New after school session for children aged 4-10 years and their parents. Funded by BBC Children in Need will start on Monday 20th February. MOVERS & MUNCHERS will run every Monday from 3.30 (with extra workshops during school holidays). Learn how to prepare healthier snacks, take part in fun activities, discovering more about the food you eat & the importance of being active.
